Love, Love, Love. We all think about it, dream about it, sing about it, and even lose sleep worrying about it, but why? Love is such a small word paired with a vital meaning. Love dates way back to when the world began. In reality, we really have no idea what love truly is. Raising questions like, is it even real? What about the suffering we have to endure when falling in love? Risking everything for that one person? And even when we feel weve reached the end of the road, this person has the power to leave us at any given moment. We put ourselves out there with the chance they can break us apart. America Outsourcing Free Essays
Outsourcing has been a subject of debate in the worldââ¬â¢s developed countries with questions on whether it should be regulated. This follows the effect that outsourcing has had on the economies of host countries. Top in the agenda is the loss of jobs to outsourcing which has led to income inequality and joblessness in the host countries. We will write a custom essay sample on America Outsourcing or any similar topic only for you Order Now The benefits of outsourcing however remain significant in these economies earning large amounts of revenue. To illustrate this facts, the case of General Electric will be used to analyze the role that outsourcing has played in the U. S economy. Impact of outsourcing on GE and their decision to have multiple outsourcing partnerships. General Electric (GE) has placed strong emphasis on expanding their business to international markets through outsourcing which has not only provided the company with huge revenues but also given it a strong command as the biggest company in the world by market specialization in 2004. Its international presence which has proved to be very powerful has given GE a competitive edge over other companies in the U.S which have not outsourced as expansively as it has. GE has benefited from the advantage of cheap human capital available to it in Asia, Mexico, India, China and other countries in which it ventured into. GE which specializes mainly in financial services, medical equipments, jet engines, plastic manufacture among others cannot at one time regret the decision to outsource to these countries as a result of the gains they have obtained. In India for example, the GE benefited from the large group of educated English speaking locals who provided inexpensive labor for the company. It is estimated that with two to four years experience a computer programmer in the US earned $62,000 while the same person earned $10,000 only in India. These reduced costs have fostered savings for the company giving it room to expand its activities even more. GE now boasts of its presence in over one hundred countries. Of the total revenue that GE earned in 2003, 45% came from the international markets which goes on to show that outsourcing has had a positive impact on the company. The company apart from benefiting in cheap labor imported materials from its home country, processed it in the subsidiaries and then sent it back to the country. The effect of this is that the production costs were reduced and the products were sold t the same price. The foreign countries also provided market for the products as well as supply of cheap and available materials. The decision for GE to have multiple outsourcing partnerships can mostly be attributed to the gains in cost cutting it was bound to benefit from such kind of arrangements. Consider that GE earns 45% of its revenue from foreign subsidiaries. This is the major reason for GE to continue outsourcing to maintain a significant flow in its revenues. As stated earlier, GE stands to obtain numerous advantages from investing in the foreign countries through outsourcing. It comes in as the nature of business to take advantage of available resources and making the maximum use of them to obtain maximum benefits. GE through outsourcing has established international partnership and it stands to gain a lot in terms of profits and reduction of costs. In the case of Mexico, the government provided for duty free import of raw materials, testing equipment, telecommunication equipments, tools and machinery. This was aimed at increasing foreign direct investment of the country which would in turn benefit from the improvement in infrastructure ad an increased job market for its citizens Warden, S. (2002: 124-133). GE was hardly affected by the income tax law which also provided for refunds on money used to export products by GE from Mexico to U.S (Vietor, 2007: 4). As a result of the huge savings made, the company advanced at a high rate establishing many plants in Mexico producing electronic motors, capacitors and lighting devices. Iliad Aias Essay Example For Students
Iliad Aias Essay Yet if somewhere I could only get some word of Aias of the great war cry, we two might go, and keep the spirit of battle even in the face of divinity, if we might win the body for Pelid Achilleus. It would be out best among evils. Iliad Ch. 17 Ln.101-105 This is a quote from Homers Iliad in which Menelaos and Aias are both fighting for the Greeks. This quote is talking about how Menelaos, a Greek warrior, called on Aias to stand firm in the face of a great fighting and danger. This danger is that the Trojans are coming down upon the body of Patroklos, which Menelaos and Aias are protecting. This show the first point of the trident as seen in Greek culture. The trident is the three main parts of a person which is, the body, spirit, and the mind. In Homers Iliad , Telemons Aias possesses all three qualities of the trident, these define his character and portrays him as the ideal Greek warrior: his strength in battle (the body), his spirituality (the spirit), and his ability as a speake r (the mind). Aias most evident quality is his superior strength. Patroklos, friend of Achilleus, has just been killed and strong Menelaos calls upon Aias to come down and fight. He is fighting against the Trojans who are angered because they want to get the body of Patroklos. They were just two men against the Trojans who storm down like a pack of hungry wolves, ready to devour anything in their way, but Aias stands strong (Book 17). A second example is when Aias and Hecktor fight against each other. Aias hits Hecktor with his spear, while Hecktor misses. Aias throws a rock on him, and Hecktor is so hurt, that he makes the excuse that the sun is going down, so let us postpone the battle until tomorrow. This is clearly showing brave Hectares cowardice toward Aias. (Book 7). Another example is when Aias is fighting against the Trojans, he kills so many of them that even brilliant Hecktor is afraid of him and will not stand up to him (Book 11). These examples all clearly show Aias strength in battle and portrays his as the perfect warrior. Homer wants to portray Aias as the ideal warrior, and his first quality is overall strength and great fighting. This is the first point on the trident, the body, in which Aias excels. Aias is the only person in the book to call upon the name of God, with a capitol G, whereas the other warriors believe in pantheism and call on their gods, with a lowercase g. When he does he also receives blessing in his fighting and all he does. For example when he asks God for help before fighting Hecktor, then he is victorious in battle. He does it twice (book 7 line 287-288), and in both cases what he calls for he is given and a little more. Another key aspect of his spirituality is his humility, and how he is obedient to his superiors. For example, when Menelaos calls for Aias to come and help him out at the ship, Aias does not just go loiter around the ships, but he stands strong and fights hard, and he is blessed. In contrast to the proud Agamemnon, Aias is very humble in all that he does. He clearly has the right to speak about his honor and all that he does, but he never once uses them. He just is quiet until he has something to add or help out someone. This clearly shows A ias humility. This is the second point on the trident, the spirit, in which Aias is the only one to call upon God, and the only one who is humble. .u2e2c3b47b5df6393ede25e69ffc70c9b , .u2e2c3b47b5df6393ede25e69ffc70c9b .postImageUrl , .u2e2c3b47b5df6393ede25e69ffc70c9b .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u2e2c3b47b5df6393ede25e69ffc70c9b , .u2e2c3b47b5df6393ede25e69ffc70c9b:hover , .u2e2c3b47b5df6393ede25e69ffc70c9b:visited , .u2e2c3b47b5df6393ede25e69ffc70c9b:active { border:0!important; } .u2e2c3b47b5df6393ede25e69ffc70c9b .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u2e2c3b47b5df6393ede25e69ffc70c9b { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u2e2c3b47b5df6393ede25e69ffc70c9b:active , .u2e2c3b47b5df6393ede25e69ffc70c9b:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u2e2c3b47b5df6393ede25e69ffc70c9b .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u2e2c3b47b5df6393ede25e69ffc70c9b .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u2e2c3b47b5df6393ede25e69ffc70c9b .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u2e2c3b47b5df6393ede25e69ffc70c9b .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u2e2c3b47b5df6393ede25e69ffc70c9b:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u2e2c3b47b5df6393ede25e69ffc70c9b .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u2e2c3b47b5df6393ede25e69ffc70c9b .u2e2c3b47b5df6393ede25e69ffc70c9b-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u2e2c3b47b5df6393ede25e69ffc70c9b:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Alcohol Abuse EssayAias is not only a good warrior, and a spiritual man, but he also has skill in the art of speaking and persuasion.
